Naren is celebrating his birthday today by donating Weekends with Max and His Dad to the Hamilton Library. I already featured this book on the blog, so I am thrilled to add this to our collection. Thank you for celebrating with us, Naren. Have a spectacular birthday!
You guessed it, she's 10! And to celebrate the special day, she's donated the wonderful book Pax to the Hamilton Library. Pax is a beautiful and heartbreaking story of the friendship between a boy and his fox. "Pax and Peter have been inseparable ever since Peter rescued him as a kit. But one day the unimaginable happens: Peter's dad enlists in the military and makes him return the fox to the wild." This book reminds me of the incredible bond between animals and people, and how pets can sometimes feel more like kin than our own family members. I'm keeping my eye on this one for awards in 2017. Don't miss the cover art by Jon Klassen!
Happy Birthday, Marin!
Drew is celebrating his 7th birthday by donating the fabulous Stick and Stone to the library. In this story Stick and Stone make an unexpected friendship by taking care of each other. "They stick up for each other, because friends rock!" Come on down to the Library and check out Drew's book!
On Friday, 3rd grader Varsha Ganesan turned 8! To celebrate, she bought a book for the Hamilton Library. We are so excited to read and share Little Boo with everyone this month. A perfect choice for a Fall birthday.
Have you seen these playaways? If you blink, you may miss them. Playaways are a hot commodity in the library, practically flying off the shelves. These fun little rectangles are actually mp3 players which play an audiobook. 3rd, 4th and 5th graders at Hamilton are invited to check out one of our 18 playaways in our small but growing collection. Just plug in your headphones, hit play, sit back, and enjoy a book! If you like our playaways, you must check out the collection at the Troy Public Library. They have hundreds of titles to choose from!
